BTC Racing will not compete in the British Touring Car Championship this season, the team have confirmed.

Bert Taylor's team recently sold their pair of SEAT Toledos to the Maxtreme squad that Liam McMillan will drive for this year, and now have no suitable cars to run this season.

"BTC Racing will not be running in the 2009 season," read a team statement. "The cars have been sold to a new and up coming team and we wish them every success in their time in the BTCC.

"The team has no current plans at this time and will continue to review its options. We wish to thank everybody that has supported us and hope to see you all again soon."

BTC made their British touring car debut at the end of the 2006 season with a Lexus IS200 for Chris Stockton and continue to run the rear-wheel drive cars until the third round of last season, when turntwo.co.uk reported that they bought their Seat Toledos from Motorbase Performance.

Last season they ran Stockton along with Stuart Oliver and Gareth Howell. Stockton was the team's best performer, finishing 18th in the championship and taking a career-best eighth place at Donington Park.
